SunMUN XVI Awards
Delegate Awards
Our delegate awards for each committee are: Best Delegate, Outstanding Delegate, and one to two Honor Mentions.
Delegation Awards
There are two delegation awards: Best Small Delegation and Best Large Delegation. Small Delegations are outlined as delegations with less than 15 delegates and Large Delegations have more than 15 delegates.
Award Critia
Our grading for committees is focused on how well delegates act in five key areas: participation, Representation, use of procedure, unmod participation, diplomatic composure.
Participation looks at how often delegates are speaking, but most importantly is the quality of their speeches. A speech which has no substance to it, will not count as much as a speech where the delegate has a clear point and adds to the debate.
Representation is graded on delegates’ ability to represent their countries' views - not their own nor a view not connected to their country. Delegates must understand their countries’ policies and allies in their specific committee in regrades to the committee’s issue.
Use of Procedure is focused on how well the delegate understands their committees’ roles and regulations as well as parliamentary procedure.
Unmod Participation is graded based on a delegate’s ability to contribute to discussion and their contributions to working papers.
Diplomatic Composure is based on delegates’ ability to use third person, yield time, and most importantly stay in character as they were a diplomat in the UN.
